2023, a NEW YEAR, a NEW YOU; am I right? We all start off the new year with goals we want to accomplish, maybe you want to eat better, or maybe you want to finally get in the shape of your life. One thing is for sure, every year that passes by, our skin shows new problem areas that we didn’t have before. Let’s call these ‘lines of wisdom;’ however most of us wish that we would get the wisdom, but without the wrinkles that usually comes with it!
So let’s make 2023 a year of skincare, let’s find the skincare that works with our skin and helps us feel our best for 2023. It’s going to be a great year everyone! Let’s see which affordable products will help us with that.

“BUFFET” COPPER PEPTIDES 1%
The advertisement on this bottle says, “an advanced age-supporting serum with an additional antioxidant support.” Some studies suggest that copper peptides work as a powerful antioxidant. Remember antioxidants are what protects the skin’s surface from things like UV and pollution. UV rays and pollution cause aging to appear on the skin over time. Apart from being an antioxidant, copper peptides have also been shown to promote collagen and elastin production. This will help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Copper is also an anti-inflammatory. There are also many more yummy skin ingredients found in this serum. For example, hyaluronic acids, more skin peptides and amino acids. The ingredient list is also non-comedogenic (which means it won’t clog your pores.) So this can be a great, cost effective serum to add into your skincare routine.

L’OREAL REVITALIFT
This product self advertises, saying, it; reduces wrinkles, lifts and brightens. It has the powerful ingredients of retinol, which increases skin cell production. It also contains hyaluronic acid that will sooth moisturize the skin after using the drying sometimes irritating retinol. Vitamin C is another ingredient that is known to brighten the skin. These are all great ingredients to help see visible results on your skin. However, it must be noted that this product is not for everyone. The ingredient list does include fragrance, which can irritate sensitive skin. It also has the ingredients myristic acid, which is an anti-inflammatory but can clog your pores and also sorbitan oleate that can also clog pores. So if you have extremely sensitive skin or are prone to acne, this product may not be for you.
I personally used this product for about a year and did not notice any reactions on my skin. I would say that I have mildly sensitive skin and am sometimes prone to acne. I did however notice that my skin looked brighter and smoother over time.

La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 Serum
This retinol serum boasts both pure retinol and gradual release retinol. They say that the gradual release retinol will slowly release the retinol into the skin, maximizing the potency while still respecting the skin’s tolerance threshold. This is good, because retinol can be a game changer in your skincare routine, but if you use too much it can also be extremely irritating to the skin. This serum also has niacinamide and hyluronic acid which are both considered gentle on the skin.
This serum would be a good option for those with sensitive skin, but still want to see dramatic results.
Remember that anti-aging products can sometimes be harsh and irritating to the skin, so you want to always start off slowly. It is recommended to start with twice a week and slowly work up from there. 2023 is going to be a great year, let’s make it the year of your new skin!
